Lokesh Kanagaraj, the name that has become synonymous with groundbreaking Tamil cinema, has solidified his place as one of the industry’s most sought-after talents. With a string of back-to-back blockbusters that not only raked in box office success but also garnered critical acclaim, he has introduced a new cinematic language to the action thriller genre of Tamil cinema.

As many are aware, Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to reunite with the crowd-puller of Tamil cinema, Thalapathy Vijay, for his highly anticipated actioner, “Leo.” This reunion promises to be a cinematic treat for fans who eagerly await the release of this exciting project.

But what’s even more thrilling is that after “Leo,” Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up for an unprecedented collaboration with the legendary superstar Rajinikanth. This remarkable project, tentatively titled “Thalaivar 171,” marks the director’s first venture with the icon of Indian cinema.

In a recent interview, Lokesh Kanagaraj shared an exciting revelation – he had narrated the storyline of “Thalaivar 171” to his dear ‘Anna’ Thalapathy Vijay. The response he received from the Master actor was nothing short of exhilarating. Thalapathy Vijay was highly impressed with the story idea for “Thalaivar 171,” describing it as simply “mindblowing.” In a testament to the story’s brilliance, Thalapathy Vijay expressed that he had never been so captivated by a story with just 10 minutes of narration. “Bayangarama irukku da (it is mindblowing),” said the Leo actor, clearly excited about Lokesh Kanagaraj’s collaboration with the legendary superstar. This revelation has naturally heightened expectations for “Thalaivar 171.”

About “Thalaivar 171,” while details about the storyline remain largely under wraps, it’s been reported that Lokesh Kanagaraj plans it as a standalone movie, separate from his action cinema universe, LCU. The film is expected to be a sleek action thriller, keeping in line with Rajinikanth’s penchant for enthralling action sequences. Adding to the project’s allure, Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the songs and the original score. The film is being bankrolled by Sun Pictures, ensuring the grandeur that befits a Rajinikanth starrer.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s plate is brimming with exciting projects. Following the completion of “Thalaivar 171,” he’s set to commence shooting for the long-awaited “Kaithi 2,” featuring Karthi. Additionally, there’s a much-anticipated reunion with Kamal Haasan for “Vikram 2.” Furthermore, the talented director has confirmed collaborations with Suriya for a standalone project titled “Rolex” and with Telugu superstar Prabhas for an action-packed venture.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s journey in the world of Tamil cinema is nothing short of remarkable, and fans eagerly await the cinematic treasures he has in store. Stay tuned for more updates on his projects, each promising a unique and enthralling cinematic experience.
