In an upcoming film by director Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are reportedly set to portray the iconic characters of Rama and Sita from the Hindu epic, Ramayana. The decision to cast Kapoor and Bhatt comes after the recent backlash faced by the makers of the film Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, which was released earlier this month. As a result, the creators of the Ramayana adaptation are exercising extra caution in their approach, aiming for authenticity and avoiding the pitfalls that plagued Adipurush.

Om Raut’s Adipurush faced criticism for its dialogues, VFX, and costume choices. The film featured Prabhas as Raghav (based on Rama), Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan), and Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita). In light of the response to Adipurush, Nitesh Tiwari and his team are being extremely cautious in their plans for the Ramayana film.

According to a source close to India Today, the makers want to maintain authenticity and have heightened sensitivity towards the dialogues, taking into account Adipurush’s backlash for its cringe-worthy lines. The report also mentions that the writers of the Ramayana adaptation will be extra critical in their approach to ensure the film resonates with the audience.

Renowned trade analyst Ramesh Bala stated that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana film will be a “real performer’s film” and not a motion caricature like Adipurush. Bala emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful portrayal, avoiding controversial songs, contemporary costumes, and makeup. Given that the film will feature gods on screen, every aspect must be handled with caution to avoid repeating the mistakes made by Adipurush.

In recent news, actor Yash, known for his role in KGF: Chapter 2, was approached for the role of Raavan in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana film. However, Yash has reportedly turned down the offer, as reported by News18.

Fans of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, along with enthusiasts of Indian mythology, eagerly await the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana adaptation. With a focus on authenticity and careful consideration of every element, the film aims to capture the hearts of audiences and present a faithful rendition of the revered epic.
