Jr. NTR‘s ardent fans went into a frenzy when his blockbuster film Simhadri, originally released in 2003, was re-released in Telugu – speaking states on the actor’s birthday, May 19. The remastered version of Simhadri, presented in 4K, witnessed a strong opening at the box office. However, the excitement quickly turned into chaos as a fire broke out in Apsara Theatre in Vijayawada, where a group of Jr. NTR fans ignited crackers during the screening.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showcasing the unfortunate turn of events. The front rows of the theatre were engulfed in flames, leading to the cancellation of the show. Prompt police intervention ensured the safe evacuation of the audience and brought the situation under control.

Following the incident, Jr. NTR’s fans took to social media platforms to express their disappointment and concern over the reckless behaviour displayed by a few individuals. One user voiced their disapproval, stating, “Such behaviour is unacceptable. Who will be held responsible for the damage caused to the property?” Another user expressed sadness, remarking in Telugu, “This is truly disheartening. The theatre owner now has to bear the consequences of the actions of a few unruly fans.”

Despite the unfortunate incident, Simhadri made an impressive return to the theatres, registering a massive opening day collection of Rs 5.14 crore. Directed by renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli, Simhadri marked his second collaboration with Jr. NTR after the successful film Student No 1.
