Telugu cinema icon Megastar Chiranjeevi is basking in the glory of completing an illustrious 45 years in the world of entertainment. His journey in cinema began in 1978, but it was his remarkable performance in the 1983 action film “Khaidi” that catapulted him to stardom. Over the years, Chiranjeevi has graced the silver screen in more than 150 films, leaving an indelible mark with his phenomenal acting and dancing skills. However, amidst the accolades and adoration, a certain 1995 film titled “Alluda Majaka” directed by EVV Satyanarayana stirred controversy over its storyline.

Following its release, “Alluda Majaka” found itself embroiled in a controversy as it faced demands for a ban from both communists and Hindu nationalists. The bone of contention was the film’s portrayal of women in scenes deemed obscene. Two months after its initial release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) decided to ban the film, leading to fervent protests by Chiranjeevi’s fans in Hyderabad, who called for the ban to be lifted.

The CBFC eventually relented, but not without conditions. They allowed the film to be released only after the objectionable portions had been edited out. Following these edits, the film was re-censored and re-released. However, by that time, “Alluda Majaka” had already completed over 100 days in theatres and garnered a substantial viewership. This rendered the second censorship process largely futile. The film emerged as one of the hits of the year, and both its original version and the edited version are now reportedly available on YouTube for posterity.

Aside from Chiranjeevi, “Alluda Majaka” featured a talented ensemble cast that included Ramya Krishnan, Rambha, Kota Srinivas Rao, Lakshmi, and Ooha in pivotal roles. It was produced by Devi Vara Prasad under the banner of Devi Films. The film’s popularity extended beyond Telugu cinema, as it was remade in Kannada as “Kiladi” and dubbed into Tamil as “Rowdy Boss.”

Looking forward, Chiranjeevi has exciting projects on the horizon. In August, he announced his next film with Vassishta, tentatively titled “Meaga157.” This fantasy entertainment is rumoured to be a sequel to his 1990 hit “Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari.” Furthermore, reports suggest that the iconic Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will share screen space with Chiranjeevi in this venture.

Additionally, Chiranjeevi will grace the screen in the crime thriller “The Journalist,” directed by Vedanth Harsh, where he will be joined by Aryan Harsh and Aryan Harsh in pivotal roles. As Chiranjeevi continues to captivate audiences with his unparalleled talent, his 45-year cinematic journey stands as a testament to his enduring legacy in the world of Indian cinema.
