Director Prashanth Neel, acclaimed for his directorial triumphs in the KGF franchise, returns to the spotlight with another high-octane gangster-based action film, “Salaar,” featuring powerhouse performers Prabhas and Prithviraj in leading roles. Amid fervent speculations surrounding a potential crossover between “Salaar” and the celebrated KGF universe, Prashanth Neel dispelled these rumours in a recent interview.

Contrary to swirling theories, Prashanth Neel emphatically confirmed that “Salaar” is distinctly separate from the realm of the KGF series. “Salaar and KGF are completely different stories,” asserted Neel, highlighting the independence of the narratives. Expressing his admiration for Prabhas, he acknowledged the opportunity to craft a film that stands as its franchise. Neel emphasized his desire to provide the actor with a dedicated space, steering clear of amalgamating disparate worlds. “I don’t wish to mix two different worlds. Salaar and KGF are completely different stories,” Neel reiterated, elucidating his stance on cinematic universes.

While acknowledging the success of interconnected universes in cinema, Prashanth Neel humbly admitted his inclination towards singular storytelling. “I have nothing against universes, but it’s difficult for me to merge two worlds,” Neel confessed, underscoring his directorial focus on singular narratives anchored by a solitary hero and villain. Despite recognizing other directors’ adeptness at interweaving multiverses, Neel affirmed his comfort in navigating one cohesive world and storyline.

Addressing the film’s release, Neel revealed insights into the delayed launch of the Salaar trailer and its subsequent shift in the release date to December 22, 2023. Initially slated for September 28, the movie encountered last-minute setbacks related to VFX, prompting the postponement. Neel clarified his role in the release schedule, stating, “The dates are not decided by me.” He emphasized the collaborative decision-making process between him and the producer, asserting their mutual commitment to delivering a quality cinematic experience.

Following the fervour surrounding Salaar’s impending release, Prashanth Neel divulged plans for his next project with NTR JR, slated to commence production in the latter half of 2024. As the director navigates different cinematic ventures, audiences eagerly anticipate the standalone spectacle of “Salaar,” awaiting its arrival as an independent cinematic saga.
