The makers of Adipurush, the upcoming film featuring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, have landed in a new controversy after a police complaint was filed against them in Mumbai. The complaint alleges that the film poster has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

The complaint was filed by Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari, who described himself as a preacher of Sanatan Dharma, through Mumbai High Court Advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra at Sakinaka police station. The complaint specifically names the film’s director Om Raut and the producers and artists involved with the poster.

According to the complaint, the poster of Adipurush shows “Maryadapurushottam Lord Shri Ram in a costume contrary to the natural spirit and nature of Ramcharitmanas mentioned in the Hindu scripture.” It further alleges that the film portrays all the characters of Ramayana “without Janeu,” which is of special importance in Hindu Sanatan Dharma.

The complaint argues that such a portrayal of the Hindu religious text is inappropriate and has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindu society. The complainant seeks action against the makers of Adipurush for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.

This is not the first time that Adipurush has found itself embroiled in controversy. Earlier, the film faced criticism for its casting choices, with some accusing the makers of promoting nepotism in the film industry. The film also faced criticism for its budget, which was reportedly one of the highest ever for an Indian film.

It remains to be seen how the makers of Adipurush will respond to the latest allegations against the film. It is not yet clear if the police will take any action against the filmmakers based on the complaint filed. As of now, the film is still scheduled to release on August 11, 2022.
