S.S. Rajamouli receives the best director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2022

S.S. Rajamouli’s historical drama RRR has not yet completed one year and has been making headlines numerous times for the awards and milestones it is achieving. The film continues to get massive response from audience worldwide along with winning awards back-to-back. The director of the film, S.S. Rajamouli has added yet one more award to the list as he has been honoured as the best director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards 2022. In a new video going viral, the filmmaker can be seen receiving the award, while the audience cheers loudly for him.

After accepting the award, Rajamouli thanked the jury, the audience and his family for supporting his film. The director while recalling his experience during the film release said, “It was pure joy of awe, like what in the hell we just witnessed. That is what I want my audiences to feel”.

The filmmaker while receiving awards overwhelming stated, “I still have the same excitement as a kid when I watch a movie in a hall and the lights being switched off in an auditorium. Whenever I make a film, I imagine myself sitting in that hall, make that sequence for the big screen,” he said while wearing a blue-coloured kurta paired with a dhoti for the event.

As per the reports, S.S. Rajamouli, Ram Charan and Jr NTR will also be attending the Golden Globe awards, which will be held in Los Angeles on January 11, 2023. While RRR has been nominated for Best Foreign Film, its song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been nominated for Best Original Song. Meanwhile, a special screening of RRR will also be held in the United States on January 9 as part of the Beyond Fest. SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and composer MM Keeravani will attend this screening as well. RRR has also been eyeing Oscars 2023. The film’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted in the best song category. Even though RRR was not a part of India’s official entry for the Oscars but was separately submitted under the ‘For your consideration’ campaign for 14 categories.

RRR was a multi-starrer action drama, starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, and is amongst the most acclaimed Indian films of the year. The film brings together the finest performances, action, artwork, and visuals, along with a storyline that kept fans in India and across the world thoroughly entertained.
