Hyderabad, August 9: The much-anticipated collaboration between Superstar Mahesh Babu and ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli has taken another exciting turn. On the occasion of Mahesh Babu’s 50th birthday, Rajamouli revealed the first look poster of their film, tentatively titled SSMB29. The poster showcases Mahesh Babu wearing a pendant with a trishul (trident) and an idol of Lord Shiva’s ox, Nandi, which has sparked an intriguing reaction from fans across social media.
Rajamouli took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the intriguing poster, which features a close-up of Mahesh Babu’s chest, with him wearing a blood-stained low-cut vest. The pendant, which depicts Lord Shiva’s trishul and Nandi, adds a layer of symbolism to the image, leaving fans guessing about the character’s possible connection to the divine.
In his post, Rajamouli wrote, “The First Reveal in November 2025… #GlobeTrotter.” Fans have been eagerly anticipating more details about the film, which is set to be an action-packed adventure spanning multiple countries. However, the film’s plot details remain under wraps for now.
While the poster has stirred up excitement, it has also prompted comparisons with a similar teaser from Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. In the teaser of the 2015 film, Salman Khan’s character was seen wearing a pendant featuring Lord Hanuman’s mace (gada), which sparked a similar wave of interest and speculation. Many fans took to social media to highlight the striking resemblance between Mahesh Babu’s pendant and Salman Khan’s, both of which depict divine symbols associated with strength and devotion.
Several fans pointed out the similarities between the two, claiming that both teasers carry a symbolic link to Hindu mythology. They noted that while Salman’s pendant featured Hanuman’s mace, Mahesh Babu’s pendant carries the trishul of Lord Shiva along with Nandi. Fans have speculated that both characters may have similar divine inspirations, suggesting that Mahesh Babu’s role in SSMB29 could be influenced by Lord Hanuman, just as Salman’s character in Bajrangi Bhaijaan was.

Though Rajamouli has not officially commented on the comparisons between the two posters, the similarities have not gone unnoticed. It is likely that the symbolism used in the posters is intentional, as both characters—Salman’s in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Mahesh Babu’s in SSMB29—appear to embody qualities of strength, courage, and devotion to a higher cause.
While the first-look poster has raised more questions than answers, one thing is clear: SSMB29 is set to be a high-octane adventure film. With Mahesh Babu in a physically demanding role, the film is expected to have extensive action sequences shot in exotic locations. Rajamouli has hinted at a global scope for the project, which promises to blend Indian culture with international appeal.
Mahesh Babu has undergone extensive training to prepare for his role, which is rumoured to be inspired by Lord Hanuman, the deity symbolising strength and devotion. The actor’s muscular transformation further fuels these speculations.
The film’s grand scale and its potential connection to divine mythologies have only added to the hype. Fans are already counting down the days for the big reveal in November 2025, when more details about the film will be unveiled.
