Hyderabad, August 9: Mahesh Babu, the superstar of Indian cinema, has joined forces with acclaimed director SS Rajamouli for an epic adventure thriller, tentatively titled SSMB29. The film, which also stars Priyanka Chopra, was officially announced in 2024, and production kicked off earlier this year. While the film’s details have largely been kept under wraps, fans were treated to a special birthday surprise from Rajamouli on Mahesh Babu’s 50th birthday.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the visionary director of RRR shared a heartfelt message with fans worldwide. He acknowledged the excitement surrounding the film, saying, “Dear Cinema Lovers in India and around the world, as well as fans of Mahesh. It has been a while since we began shooting, and we appreciate your eagerness to know about the film.”
Rajamouli explained the reason behind the silence regarding the film’s updates, stating, “The story and scope of this film are so vast that I feel mere pictures or press conferences cannot do it justice. We are currently working on something to showcase the essence, depth, and immersive world we are creating. This will be unveiled in November 2025, and we are trying to make it a NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN reveal. Thank you all for your patience.”

In a second post, Rajamouli dropped an intriguing poster for the film. The image, though simple, is highly symbolic: it features a close-up of Mahesh Babu’s chest, with him wearing a low-cut vest stained with blood. A pendant bearing an idol of Lord Shiva’s trishul (trident) and his ox, Nandi, further adds to the mystery. Alongside the poster, Rajamouli wrote, “The First Reveal in November 2025… #GlobeTrotter.”

While plot details remain a well-guarded secret, SSMB29 is set to be a grand-scale adventure that spans multiple countries. It promises to blend Indian culture with global appeal, making it a unique cinematic experience. Mahesh Babu is said to be playing a physically demanding role, with extensive action sequences filmed in exotic locations. The film is rumoured to be inspired by Lord Hanuman, and Mahesh Babu has undergone intensive training to prepare for the role, building muscle for the action-heavy scenes.
Fans of Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli are eagerly awaiting the first major reveal of the film in November 2025. Until then, the excitement continues to build, with this collaboration shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the coming years.
