RRR director SS Rajamouli tells Seth Meyers how fans celebrate his film’s release

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli made his first late-night show appearance in the US ahead of his Golden Globes 2023 winning moment. The night etched a mark in the history of entertainment when an Indian song, ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Best Original Score category with SS Rajamouli’s directorial RRR. But, ahead of the win, the filmmaker spoke to Seth Meyers and the accolades the film is receiving in the West.

In his first appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the host asked Rajamouli, “What one of your films is like on an opening weekend in India?” Responding to the question, the RRR director said, “The fans will be tearing up newspapers all through the night, making huge bags of confetti, and they come to the theatre”.

He further said, “The moment the actor’s name is displayed or the actors come in or they anticipate their favourite star is coming onto the screen all the confetti will be thrown into the air”.

Rajamouli added, “You won’t see the film and they will be laughing and shouting so loudly, you can’t hear the sound. He even said that “the projector operator, who is not supposed to meddle with the sound, will be increasing the DB of the sound but still you can’t hear anything.”

Seth Meyers also went on to praise the film, RRR. He said that his face was hurting, “because without knowing it, I was just grinning ear to ear because I had never seen anything like this film.”

RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted for Best Original Song for Academy Awards 2023. The team of RRR is in Los Angeles for the Oscars campaign. They recently hosted a special screening for the members of the Academy.
