RRR creates history with five nominations in Critics Choice Awards 2023

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, created history on Wednesday by getting five nominations at the prestigious Critics Choice Awards. As the Critics Choice Awards announced their 2023 nominations, RRR received nods for Best Picture, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Foreign Language Film, Best Visual Effects and Best Song (Naatu Naatu).

Overall, Everything Everywhere All at Once led the nominees with 14 nods in total. It was followed by The Fabelmans with 11 and Babylon with ten nominations.

RRR follows a pre-Independence fictional story woven around two real-life Indian revolutionaries — Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem — in the 1920s. Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead, the film released worldwide in March in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. It also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles. The film has also bagged two nominations in the Golden Globe Awards 2023.
