Nayanthara on her horror film Connect, “It is more twisted than Maya and filled with more characters”

Star actress Nayanthara’s Tamil horror movie Connect released in theatres on December 22. The makers then released its Hindi version on December 30, which was her debut in this language. The actress is happy with the way the film is received in both the languages.

This is Nayanthara’s second film with director Ashwin Saravanan after Maya, which came out in 2015 and also belonged to the horror genre.

The story of Connect takes place during the nationwide lockdown in India to tackle the deadly COVID-19 virus. Nayanthara plays a woman who notices eerie changes in her daughter during the lockdown and what all she does to bring her back to normalcy.

Speaking about Connect, Nayanthara recently said in an interview, “I don’t know if you have seen Maya but it’s (Connect is) a little more twisted and filled with a lot of characters. But when Ashwin came to me with Connect, I felt the essence of its simplicity that is fresh and new, otherwise everyone has a mix of genres. They mix comedy with horror, its horror with something else. So, for a long time, I have not seen a pure horror film and Ashwin’s Connect is a pure horror film where if you are a true horror fan then you would love to watch Connect in theatres and experience it.”

Sharing on what she felt has worked in the film’s favour, Nayanthara added, “I think the simplicity of the film and the script that he had made is what I like the most and also I think the emotional connect that he brought into the whole scene. I think that’s what I really liked.”
