The much-anticipated Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is currently underway, with filming in full swing and a theatrical release now set for 19 March 2026. Adding significant momentum to the project is JJ Perry, the Hollywood action director best known for his work on John Wick, Fast & Furious, and Day Shift.

The makers recently unveiled behind-the-scenes images from the set, showcasing Perry in action as he helms a 45-day-long shoot for the film’s major action set pieces — all executed with an entirely Indian stunt team.

“Indian Crew is World-Class,” Says JJ Perry

Speaking about his decision to work with a local team, Perry was all praise. “This Indian crew is world-class. That’s precisely why I chose to work with them,” he said. “We’re in the middle of shooting a massive sequence right now, and I’m super stoked. It’s a challenge, sure, but I love a great challenge — and this team is meeting it head-on.”

Perry, who has spent over three decades in the action genre, added: “We’re here to push boundaries together, and that’s what filmmaking is all about.”

A Long-Time Admirer of Indian Cinema

Reflecting on his global experience, Perry shared: “In my 35 years of doing this, I’ve worked in 39 countries. I’ve always been a fan of Indian cinema — it’s creative, artistic, and bold.”

He also praised Toxic’s director Geetu Mohandas, calling her vision “remarkable,” and applauded other key creatives like cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, the production designer, and the art department for their commitment and craft.

JJ Perry is a veteran action director, actor, and stunt coordinator from the United States, with an extensive filmography that includes John Wick, The Fast & the Furious, and Afterburn — a recent sci-fi thriller starring Dave Bautista, Samuel L. Jackson, and Olga Kurylenko.
