Chiranjeevi starrer GodFather has created a lot of noise, and as a result, the film managed to win hearts. Among many others, the film made headlines for the cameo of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. However, a section of fans was expecting to see Chiranjeevi’s real brother and actor Pawan Kalyan to play the character of the former’s on-screen brother.

Reacting to the same, the megastar broke his silence during a chat with director Puri Jaganadha. Interestingly, the actor said, “Even if Pawan Kalyan had played the role it would have been no way lesser. But we wanted to cast an actor with a pan-Indian appeal that would bring North-South balance.”

He then concludes by saying, “That’s the reason we discussed and decided Salman Bhai will be a better option. Even if I had told Pawan Kalyan, he would have told me to go with Salman Khan.” For the unversed, on Wednesday, Puri Jagannadh interviewed Chiranjeevi on Instagram live as part of post-release promotions of GodFather.

During the chat, the South star also opened up about the failure of Acharya. Directed by Siva Koratala, the film also featured Ram Charan. “I take full responsibility when a film fails and I take the failure of Acharya in my stride. I have no guilt feeling about doing the film. In fact, both Ram Charan and I returned 80 percent of our remuneration to the producer,” said the actor.

Coming to GodFather, it is directed by Mohan Raja. The Telugu-language film is an official remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, which has Mohanlal in the lead role. The ensemble star cast of the film includes Nayanthara, Satya Dev, Murali Sharma, and Puri Jagannadh in the lead role. Puri played the character of a journalist in the Mohan Raj directorial.
