Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has instructed officials to implement structured theatre management across the state, with a strong focus on regulating ticket, food, and beverage prices. He emphasized that any requests for ticket price hikes must be routed through the Telugu Film Chamber (TFC), including for his own upcoming film Hari Hara Veera Mallu, set to release on June 12.

In a post on X, Pawan underscored the government’s responsibility to enforce fair pricing and operational standards in theatres. He voiced concern over inflated prices of popcorn, drinks, and bottled water, directing officials to monitor both pricing and quality, and to initiate inquiries where necessary.

Highlighting monopolistic practices in multiplexes and single-screen theatres, Pawan ordered a thorough investigation and appropriate corrective actions. He stressed that high refreshment prices should not deter families from visiting theatres, noting that affordable pricing could boost audience turnout and increase tax revenues.

The actor-turned-politician also called for improved hygiene and access to clean drinking water in theatres, labeling it a basic duty of theatre owners, with enforcement by local municipal bodies. Addressing the issue of theatre closures, he demanded an impartial probe into possible political interference, including alleged involvement of Janasena Party members, and insisted that no individual should be exempt from scrutiny.

Pawan concluded by urging that suggestions for the state’s upcoming comprehensive film development policy be sourced from industry associations and stakeholders within the Telugu film fraternity.
