Marking this special occasion, Megastar Chiranjeevi spoke about the potential for a sequel or remake in a YouTube interview aired on the Vyjayanthi Network channel. Reflecting on the film’s enduring legacy, he shared his vision for a new generation to carry the story forward.
“I won’t say I can do it now,” Chiranjeevi laughed, “I wish I could, but that sounds too ambitious. I think Ram Charan and Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor would be perfect for a sequel or remake. I also believe Ashwini Dutt garu’s daughters should produce it, and his son-in-law Nag Ashwin should direct it—with guidance from Raghavendra Rao garu. That would be historic.”
Ram Charan also joined in the celebration of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’s re-release, expressing his admiration for the film and the team behind it. He described the movie as a cherished collaboration among legends like Ashwini Dutt, Raghavendra Rao, and Ilaiyaraaja, calling the occasion a deeply personal and emotional one.
Reflecting on the influence of the film, Charan remarked that he may have become a devotee of Lord Hanuman because of the iconic song “Jai Chiranjeeva Jagadeka Veera,” which he heard during childhood.
When asked about a possible sequel or remake, he added with a smile, “We, the audience, still want to know what happened to the ring and that fish at the end of the movie. Only one person can answer—Nag Ashwin. We’re not just asking, we’re demanding an answer from you!”
Released in 1990, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari tells the story of Indraja, the daughter of the Hindu god Indra, who descends to Earth after losing her magical ring. The ring falls into the hands of Raju, a kind-hearted hill station guide who cares for a group of orphaned children. The film’s beloved cast includes not only Chiranjeevi and Sridevi but also legendary names like Amrish Puri, Kannada Prabhakar, and Allu Ramalingaiah in pivotal roles.
