Renowned Telugu actor and YSR Congress Party member Posani Krishna Murali, known for his roles in films like 1: Nenokkadine and Temper, was arrested at his Hyderabad home by Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday.

The arrest followed allegations of the actor-turned-politician making derogatory remarks during a speech, which reportedly fueled discord among communities. A case was filed against Krishna Murali at the Obulavaripalli Police Station, accusing him of insulting a specific community. The police have charged him under BNS Sections 196, 353(2), and 111, along with Section 3(5) of the SC/ST Act, as well as BNSS Sections 41(1) and 47(2). Further details about his arrest are awaited.

According to the arrest notice provided to Krishna Murali’s wife, Kusuma Latha, the offense is cognizable and non-bailable. He is expected to be presented before the Additional Judicial Magistrate of 1st Class in Rajampet for judicial custody. In videos circulating online, police are seen asking Krishna Murali to cooperate. The actor informs the officers that he is unwell and undergoing treatment, but he complies with their request and the notice is handed to his family.

This is not the first legal issue Krishna Murali has faced for controversial remarks. In November last year, he was booked for making derogatory comments about Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

On the professional front, Posani Krishna Murali is recognized for his humorous and character roles in the Telugu film industry. In addition to acting, he is also a writer and director. Earlier this year, he appeared in the Telugu romantic drama Nidurinchu Jahapana, directed by Prasanna Kumar Devarapalli. The film starred Anand Vardhan and Navami Gayak in the lead roles.

Produced by AR Entertainments, the film featured music by Anup Rubens, with Anand Reddy Nadakatla handling the cinematography and Nani Babu Karumachi overseeing the editing. Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike.
