Fans of Telugu cinema were treated to a special birthday surprise as the makers of “Pushpa 2: The Rule” unveiled its teaser on Monday, coinciding with the celebration of lead actor Allu Arjun’s 42nd birthday. Directed by Sukumar, the film serves as a sequel to the highly successful “Pushpa 1: The Rise”, setting the stage for an intense confrontation between Allu Arjun’s titular character and Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil’s Inspector Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Mythri Movie Makers, the production banner behind the project, shared the teaser on its official X page. Alongside Allu Arjun, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli and is scheduled to hit screens on August 15.

“Celebrate his arrival. Adore his fire within. Experience the goosebumps. #Pushpa2TheRuleTeaser out now. Happy Birthday Icon Star @alluarjun THE RULE BEGINS on 15th AUG 2024,” read the celebratory post.

Allu Arjun, who graciously greeted fans outside his Hyderabad residence at midnight, expressed heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering love and support.

“I thank each and every one of you for the birthday wishes! My heart is full of gratitude. Please take this teaser as my way of saying thank you!” he captioned the teaser of “Pushpa 2: The Rule” in an X post. According to a press release, the 1.08-minute clip showcases the vibrant ‘jaathara’ sequence from the upcoming film. ‘Jaathara’, also known as ‘Sammakka Saralamma Jaathara’, is a revered festival celebrated in Telangana to honour the Hindu tribal goddesses.

Drenched in vibrant hues and cultural richness, the teaser presents Allu Arjun’s character, Pushpa Raj, adorned in traditional attire and wielding a trident, engaging in intense action sequences set to the electrifying soundtrack by music composer DSP amidst the fervent ‘jaathara’ celebrations.

While the glimpse of the sequel introduces a different facet of the protagonist, his signature swagger remains intact.

“Pushpa 1: The Rise” chronicled the journey of a humble labourer’s ascent in the illicit red sandalwood smuggling trade, a story set against the backdrop of the Seshachalam Hills in Andhra Pradesh. Its release in India in collaboration with Muttamsetty Media on December 17, 2021, catapulted it to phenomenal success, grossing over ₹350 crore and solidifying Allu Arjun’s status as a pan-Indian star, earning him his maiden National Award for Best Actor. Composer DSP also clinched his inaugural National Award for his work on “Pushpa: The Rise”.
