This happened following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of a fan during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad.
Pushpa 2 shattered several box office records upon its release in December 2024, but before its release, the film was mired in controversy due to a stampede at the premiere in Hyderabad. The incident resulted in the death of a fan, and Allu Arjun was arrested in the case, spending a night in jail before being granted bail.
When Allu Arjun returned home, his family was visibly emotional, but it was his reunion with his grandmother that captured everyone’s hearts. In a viral video from that moment, the actor is seen touching his grandmother’s feet before embracing her tightly. She is visibly emotional as she performs a ritual to ward off the nazar (evil eye). Another woman is seen performing a similar ritual using a coconut. The video touched the hearts of many online, with fans praising the special bond between Allu Arjun and his grandmother.
On December 4, 2024, during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad, Allu Arjun attended with his family and co-star Rashmika Mandanna. The event saw huge crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the star. Unfortunately, a stampede broke out at the Sandhya Theatre, leading to the tragic death of 35-year-old Revathi and leaving her son in critical condition. Allu Arjun was later arrested in connection with the incident but was released on bail.

Allu Arjun rushed back to Hyderabad as soon as he heard the news. Ram Charan, who was filming Peddi in Mysore, also made his way back to Hyderabad to be with his family and pay his respects to his maternal grandmother.
