South superstar Rana Daggubati recently shared his views on the film industry’s tendency to formalize things, stating that it no longer resonates with the audience. During an event, a journalist questioned Rana about the changing dynamics of being an actor and whether the stereotype of a ‘look’ is still relevant in today’s era compared to the past 30-40 years. In response, the Telugu actor expressed that the audience always craves something new, while the industry often tries to adhere to set formulas.

Rana Daggubati voiced his dislike for the film industry’s practice of formalizing things, stating, “The audience always wants something new. But as an industry, we try to formulate things.” He emphasized that viewers no longer desire to see replicas of existing stars such as Hrithik Roshan or Shah Rukh Khan, as they are already present in the industry. Rana stressed that unless an actor brings something unique and stands out, there is no room for second best anymore.

The actor highlighted the transformative impact of the epic film Baahubali on Indian cinema. Rana credited director SS Rajamouli for shaping a strong vision and changing the way movies are perceived. He acknowledged that Baahubali not only inspired the industry to dream big but also provided a sense of the vast potential of Indian cinema, creating a shift in perspective.

During the candid conversation, Rana Daggubati was asked about the biggest challenge he has faced in his life. Reflecting on his early career aspirations, Rana recalled his desire to become a producer. He shared that his biggest challenge occurred before he ventured into acting when he attempted to produce films. In 2005, Rana produced his first film titled “Bommalata,” which won two national awards. However, due to its independent nature, the film never made it to theatres, leaving the audience deprived of experiencing it. Rana revealed that he faced difficulties convincing actors and technicians to embrace new storytelling ideas, leading him to shift his focus towards acting. The hardest part of his journey as a producer, according to Rana, was persuading the industry to embrace fresh narratives.

Rana Daggubati’s insightful remarks shed light on the need for innovation and originality in the film industry. He advocates breaking away from stereotypes and formulaic approaches, emphasizing the importance of bringing something distinct and captivating to the audience.
