The San Diego Comic-Con witnessed a grand event as the much-anticipated film, Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Naga Ashwin and starring Prabhas, got its grand title and teaser launch. The film promises to take Indian cinema, especially Telugu cinema, into uncharted territories with its unique storyline and setting.

The event was graced by the presence of the legendary actor Kamal Haasan, who is playing the antagonist in the film. Amitabh Bachchan, though unable to attend in person, joined the event via video call and shared his thoughts about working with Kamal Haasan.

During the event, Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan’s camaraderie became the highlight. Kamal expressed his admiration for the Bollywood superstar, stating, “We are very honoured to be living with Amitji’s energy. We make stories and audiences make stars. You understand it when you see Amitabh ji, Prabhas & Rana perform. Stop being modest, Kamal. You’re much, much greater than all of us.”

Recalling their previous collaborations, Kamal Haasan further added, “Each film of his is filled with reality. He puts so much effort into each film. The roles that he has played are quite amazing. It’s an honour to be in the same film as him. We have done a couple of films together, but this one is going to be very special.”

Amidst the praises, Kamal Haasan also shared a humorous incident from his past, revealing, “I was an assistant director on Sholay. I couldn’t sleep the night I watched it because I hated the film so much. I hated the filmmaker even more. I had the opportunity to work with a great filmmaker, and that was my reaction, and I told him. As a technician, I couldn’t sleep that night, and Amitji has done many such movies. Him saying nice things about my films is something I had never imagined.”

Speaking about his negative role in Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal Haasan emphasized the importance of such roles in films. “The reason I accepted this film is because I come from analogous cinema. Without a negative, there’s no positive. So, a negative role is an important role in a film,” he shared.

The teaser launch of Kalki 2898 AD garnered significant attention, and the glimpse video, released on Friday at midnight, left the audience excited. The film is set to explore new dimensions in Indian cinema, with its intriguing storyline and futuristic setting.

As photos from the event continue to circulate on social media, the buzz surrounding Kalki 2898 AD is escalating, and fans are eagerly looking forward to witnessing this ambitious and unique cinematic experience.
