Rajinikanth issues copyright infringement notice over non-consensual use of his voice and name

South megastar Rajinikanth, with the help of his lawyer S. Elambharathi, has issued a public notice of copyright infringement to protect the superstar’s voice and name from being exploited. As per certain reports, the notice claimed that misappropriation of the actor’s personality which includes his voice, name etc. for the promotions of their services and products, will lead to legal action against them.

The copyright infringement public notice aims at protecting the persona of Rajinikanth and it also stated that civil and criminal proceedings will be initiated against anyone who exploits the actor’s name, voice and other aspects of personalities. The notice described the fame and the respect for the megastar achieved over the years and how his presence adds credibility to a brand. Hence, the notice alleged that certain mediums, platforms, and even manufacturers have often used his name, image, caricatures, AI generated images in the past to entice the public into purchasing their products. Adding to it, the notice also described how such false advertisements may not only damage the reputation and personal life of the superstar but it may also lead to a massive lose for him.

For the unversed, Rajinikanth is one of the biggest superstars of Tamil cinema and has been an audience favourite for years together. Talking about his upcoming films, his much anticipated film is Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film will also feature Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar in a pivotal role along with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in a special guest appearance. As for the rest of the team, the film is also expected to star Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia among others along with music composed by Anirudh Ravinchander.
