Kamal Haasan Completes Filming for Mani Ratnam’s “Thug Life.”

Kamal Haasan has completed shooting for the upcoming Mani Ratnam-directed film “Thug Life.” The production house celebrated the wrap in a post on X, sharing the exciting news with fans on Tuesday. They also released a video showcasing moments from the filming, culminating in a celebration where Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, and the entire team announced the completion.

Touted as a gangster drama, “Thug Life” is directed by Mani Ratnam and co-produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. The film features a stellar cast, including Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Abhirami, and Nasser, with music composed by AR Rahman. Recently, Ali Fazal also joined the “Thug Life” team.

In more details, the title of the film was revealed last year, just ahead of Kamal Haasan’s birthday. The production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, treated fans to an exciting title announcement video on Instagram. They captioned the post: “A NEW NAME, A NEW HISTORY! #ThugLife #KH234 #Ulaganayagan #KamalHaasan #HBDKamalSir #HBDUlaganayagan.” The video showcased Kamal Haasan in a never-before-seen look, set against a bleak, hazy landscape as he wrapped himself in a rugged cloak. He is depicted being pursued by several men, with the camera panning to reveal his full appearance, complete with a heavy moustache and beard.

After their collaboration on “Nayakan,” Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are reuniting for this film. Mani Ratnam’s most recent directorial effort was the grand epic “Ponniyin Selvan II,” which received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Produced by Allirajah Subaskaran’s Lyca Productions, the film was released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The score was composed by music maestro AR Rahman, with cinematography by Ravi Varman.
