The much-anticipated action thriller, Captain Miller, starring Dhanush and directed by Arun Matheswaran, hit theatres on January 12, marking a successful run. However, the film now finds itself entangled in controversy as writer and actor Vela Ramamoorthy accuses the team of blatant plagiarism.

In a recent interview with Puthiya Thalaimurai, Ramamoorthy alleged that Captain Miller is a direct adaptation of his novel, Pattathu Yaanai (Hundred Elephants). The writer-actor intends to seek justice by approaching the director’s union, expressing his disappointment that the film’s team did not seek permission before creating the movie.

Ramamoorthy emphasized, “There is no honesty in the film industry. So, I am going to the cinema director’s union for justice in the hope that Bharathiraja will help me.”

Known for his contributions to Tamil cinema, Ramamoorthy clarified that his accusations are not driven by a desire for fame or monetary gain. Instead, he underscores the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and seeks justice for his hard work.

Captain Miller unfolds the story of its titular character, a former British soldier on a mission to protect his village from the British, while also safeguarding a hidden treasure held by the villagers. The film, co-written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and Madha Karky, boasts an ensemble cast, including Dhanush, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken, Edward Sonnenblick, and more.

GV Prakash Kumar handles the film’s music, with cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Nagooran Ramachandran. As the controversy unfolds, it adds a layer of complexity to the success of Captain Miller, raising questions about intellectual property and creative integrity in the world of Tamil cinema.
