Suriya 42 Producer Gnanavel Raja opened up about the film’s massive budget

The tentatively titled Suriya 42’s producer Gnanavel Raja has talked about his upcoming project with Suriya. In an interview, He spoke about how SS Rajamouli and his film Baahubali & RRR have opened the window for south filmmakers to work on huge projects. Gnanavel confirmed that he will be producing Suriya 42 on a budget that is three times more than the usual budget for Suriya’s films so far.

The film is touted to be a 3D periodic drama. It will be made in 10 languages and in two parts. Suriya has joined hand with director Siruthai Siva for this exciting project. Disha Patani plays the female lead. Reportedly, the film is being made on a budget of over ₹200 crore.

In an interview with Galatta’s Youtube channel, Gnanavel explained why he spent massively on making Suriya 42. He said, “After seeing the motion poster of the film by the director, I understood that I am not producing a normal film. This film is made on a budget that’s thrice the amount of Suriya’s biggest film so far. Even Suriya sir doesn’t know this because he will panic.”

Talking about SS Rajamouli, He said “Be it Pushpa or Suriya 42 or any project from here, if it is making noise in Mumbai, it is because of Rajamouli sir. If he hadn’t done something like Baahubali, we would have nothing to do in Bombay. The reason behind Suriya 42’s big budget is Rajamouli. If he hadn’t opened the window, we wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

On the occasion of Tamil New Year, the makers have decided to reveal film’s first look along with its title on April 14th. The film’s teaser will be released in May, confirmed Gnanavel.
