The film Shaakuntalam, a mythological drama featuring Kangana Ranaut in the titular role has been making headlines ever since its inception and the makers of the film finally released the trailer of the film today, January 9. While the trailer is receiving a positive response online, the actress spoke about the film at the trailer launch event held in Hyderabad. Samantha shed some light on her “unchanged” love for cinema amid all her recent life struggles.

In a video, making rounds on the internet from the event, Samantha became emotional the first time when director Gunasekhar was speaking. In the clip, she was seen crying and then wiping away her tears as she tried to smile.

“No matter how many struggles I face in life, one thing won’t change. That’s how much I love cinema and cinema loves me back. I strongly believe that this love will grow manifold with Shaakuntalam,” she said during her speech.

Later, she also spoke about bagging the role for the Gunasekhar directorial. She said, “In Indian literature history, the story of Shakuntala is one of the most memorable ones. I feel so lucky that Gunasekhar sir chose me for this character. It is truly my privilege.”

Talking about the upcoming multi-language film, it is based on Kalidasa’s Abhijnana Shakuntalam. The story revolves around an epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant of Mahabharat.

Helmed by Gunasekhar, released with a description, an excerpt of it read, “The film is helmed by supremely proficient, Director Gunasekhar and marks a whimsical tale of love set in the Kashyapa Kanumalu (Kashmir), the grandeur and splendour of Dushyant’s Puru Dynasty making the film extremely exceptional.”

The forthcoming film is scheduled to release on February 17, 2023. It will be her second film after Myositis diagnosis.
