Actor-producer Rana Daggubati, alongside director Nag Ashwin, shared insights into his past health battles during the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon. The actor candidly discussed how his illness had transformed him into a different person, describing the impact of his kidney transplant and cornea transplant surgeries.

Reflecting on his hospital experience, Rana recounted his time at the Mayo Clinic in the US, where his health issues were diagnosed. “Once you enter this life-threatening zone, your perspective on life shifts drastically,” he remarked. He acknowledged a shift in his worldview, recognizing the need to prioritize values beyond self-interest.

Addressing the toll of his illness, Rana admitted to undergoing a negative transformation. He shared his struggle with questions about his health post-Baahubali, revealing a newfound cynicism towards inquiries. “I started becoming a slightly mean person… If people asked about my health, I said unless you can donate a kidney or an eye, don’t ask about it. I didn’t like what I was doing,” he confessed.

Despite the physical and emotional challenges, Rana found solace in nature during the filming of Prabhu Solomon’s Tamil film, “Kaadan.” He emphasized the healing power of nature, highlighting the tranquility and acceptance he experienced amidst the jungle. “Nature is a greater healer than anything else,” he concluded, reflecting on his journey towards recovery and self-discovery.
