Rakul Preet Singh to appear before ED on December 19 over infamous drugs case of 2017

Actress Rakul Preet Singh is once again under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Telugu film industry drugs and money laundering case. Directorate of Enforcement has issued notices to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy and Rakul Preet Singh to appear in front of the ED on December 19 in Hyderabad. ED will question her in relation to a money laundering case involving a high-end drug racket that was busted in the city in 2017.

Along with her, the notice is also issued to a bunch of celebrities like Rana Daggubati, Puri Jagannadh, Ravi Teja, Charmee Kaur, Navdeep and others, as per a report by Saakshi TV. For the unversed, in July 2017, customs officers detained musician Calvin Mascarenhas and two other people seizing drugs worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession. They allegedly admitted to the investigators that they supply drugs to movie stars, software engineers, and even pupils at some corporate schools.

According to reports, some Tollywood superstars’ mobile numbers were found in their contact lists. Since 2021, a number of Tollywood celebrities have testified before the ED in relation to the infamous racket of supplying high-end narcotics such as LSD and MDMA that Telangana’s Prohibition and Excise agency busted.

Coming to the professional front, Rakul was last seen in Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thank God. The film, released on the occasion of Diwali 2022, performed poorly at the box office.

Rakul has a bunch of interesting projects in her pipeline, including Chattriwali. The forthcoming film is about an unemployed graduate who is desperate for a job in a small town and ends up taking the job as a condom tester, which she hides from everyone. Along with this, she also has an untitled film starring Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar.
