Chiranjeevi returns with his favourite genre of masala entertainers on the big screen and one of his first releases in 2023 is in January itself. We are talking about Waltair Veerayya, which is already creating ample buzz. In fact, a Hindi dubbed version of the Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan starrer will also release along with the original. Recently, while promoting this action entertainer, during a press conference, the Telugu superstar revealed the reason behind his love for commercial cinema and why he stopped doing off-beat films.

In the recent press conference, Chiranjeevi confessed that now he wants to do the films that audiences enjoy and prefer to do roles, audiences expect to see him in. He said, “I no longer want to do what I want to do. I want to give what my audience wants from me. SP Balu garu (S. P. Balasubrahmanyam) would ask me why I keep doing only certain kinds of films. I told him that even I have a desire for doing different types of films and that was the reason why I did RudraveenaAapadbandhavuduSwayam Krushi. But, the producers of such films were under huge pressure. By doing such films, I could win awards and appreciation, but if those films don’t entertain a larger number of audiences.”

He continued, “I don’t think it’s fair. When so many people love me, I have to justify their affection by doing films that entertain them. And you may think that I’m doing only monotonous films, mass films, despite my talent. But, I will only do films for my fans,”

Readers would be aware that while Chiranjeevi plays the lead role in Waltair Veerayya, Ravi Teja will be featuring in the pivotal role of a cop named Veerayya along with Shruti Haasan playing the love interest of Chiru. Directed by Bobby aka KS Ravindra, the film is slated to release on January 13, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
