August 16, 1947’s team unveils official release date with latest poster

The makers of Independence epic August 16, 1947 have unveiled a brand new poster of the film, announcing April 7 as the worldwide release date. The A.R. Murugadoss’ production aims at telling an untold side of India’s Independence and their tagline reads, “Get ready to witness a tale from our past… no one dared to tell!”

Coming to the poster, it celebrates the patriotic vigor and spirit of the movie, as it showcases the lead cast along with other breath-taking period imagery. As for the film, it captures a story from our freedom struggle that we have neither seen nor heard of before. Having been a prolific producer of acclaimed and successful films down south like Ghajini and Holiday, A.R. Murugadoss’ latest venture yet another proves his love for original stories with a universal theme.

Produced by A.R. Murugadoss along with Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary, August 16, 1947 has been in the buzz for its novel storyline and grand production value. It is expected to be a Pan-India film and will release in cinemas in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English. The film will tell a fascinating tale of an erstwhile village where one brave man battles evil British forces for love during the cusp of Indian independence, the film’s release is eagerly awaited since its announcement.
