Arya starrer Sarapatta Parambarai to return with a sequel

Based during Indira Gandhi’s Emergency period, Sarapattai Parambai revolved around the rise and fall of the Sarapattai clan, as their pride is highly dependent on boxing match against their rival gang. Playing the role of Kabilan, the film focused on the rise and fall of this ambitious boxer essayed by Arya. Now we hear that the makers are keen on making a sequel to this 2021 Pa Ranjith sports drama.

Arya took to Twitter to announce the news of second instalment in the pipeline. The actor shared an announcement poster of his back facing towards the audience, further captioning it saying, “Match பாக்க ready-யா? ரோஷமான ஆங்கில குத்துச்சண்ட.. Round 2 #Sarpatta2 விரைவில் (Ready to watch Match.. Angry English Boxing… Round 2 #Sarpatta2 Soon)”. The announcement also included that the film will be directed by Pa Ranjith with Neelam Productions, producing the sports based drama.  While the film has been announced with much fanfare, it is yet to be seen if the film will be a continuation from its prequel and also if the rest of the team members will be a part of the film.

For the unversed, the film Sarapattai Parambai also featured some very interesting characters like Shabeer Kallarrakai as the Dancing Rose, John Kokken as Kabilan’s arch rival Vembuli, Kalaiyarasan as his friend Vetriselvan, Pasupathy as Rangan Vaathiyar, Dushara Vijayan as Kabilan’s wife Mariyamma, Anupama Kumar as Kabilan’s mother Bakkiyam, among others. Fans of the film couldn’t be more curious of the sequel and soon after the announcement was made by the star, many of them took to the platform to shower their love on it. Furthermore, it has also fueled up curiousity about the rest of the cast of the film.

As of now, Neelam Productions is currently busy with another Pa Ranjith period drama Thangalaan set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold mines and features Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan. The film is expected to hit the big screens this year.
