Vijay Sethupathi’s Character Sandhanam Won’t Return in Lokesh Cinematic Universe

The much-celebrated multi-starrer “Vikram,” helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has captivated audiences with its stellar cast and gripping narrative, leaving an indelible mark on the Indian cinematic landscape. Amidst fervent speculation about the fate of Vijay Sethupathi‘s character, Sandhanam, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has put an end to all fan theories, confirming that the character has met his definitive end in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) narrative.

In a recent interview with the Cinema Express YouTube channel, Kanagaraj elucidated that Sandhanam’s journey in the LCU has concluded, affirming his demise in the climax of “Vikram” as the character’s final chapter. The filmmaker further revealed plans to introduce a new character, slated to aid Rolex, portrayed by Suriya, in resurrecting his narcotics empire and pursuing his political ambitions. Casting considerations for this pivotal role will be deliberated after the completion of the highly anticipated Rajinikanth project, tentatively titled “Thalaivar 171.”

Kanagaraj’s ambitious vision for the LCU continues to unfold, with a strategic pause to prioritize his standalone action film with superstar Rajinikanth. Following the OTT release of “Leo,” the director will embark on a six-month hiatus from social media, immersing himself in the meticulous scripting process. The project is scheduled to commence production by mid-2024, signalling a promising addition to his illustrious repertoire.

The roadmap for the LCU’s future includes the commencement of “Kaithi 2,” the much-anticipated sequel featuring Karthi in a leading role, following the release of “Thalaivar 171.” Kanagaraj’s creative ventures also encompass the development of additional action thrillers within the universe, such as the standalone “Rolex” movie, a sequel to “Leo,” and the much-anticipated “Vikram 2,” poised to culminate the LCU saga with a captivating and climactic finale. With such grand plans on the horizon, Lokesh Kanagaraj continues to redefine the realm of contemporary Indian cinema, promising a captivating cinematic journey for enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.
