Nawazuddin Siddiqui Opens Up About Feeling Guilty After Working on Rajinikanth’s Petta

In a candid revelation, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently confessed to feeling a sense of guilt following his involvement in the Tamil blockbuster “Petta,” which marked his debut in the South Indian film industry. Despite sharing the screen with legendary actor Rajinikanth, Nawazuddin expressed remorse over his performance in the film.

Speaking to Galatta Plus, Nawazuddin shared his sentiments, stating, “When I did Petta with Rajini sir, after I came back from the shoot, I was in a lot of guilt. That I’m charging money for something I don’t even know. It felt like I fooled everyone.” He elaborated on the challenges faced during the shoot, particularly with language barriers, which led to feelings of inadequacy. Despite his concerns, Nawazuddin delivered his lines to the best of his ability, albeit with a lingering sense of unease.

“Petta,” directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, featured an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathy, Simran, Trisha, and Sasikumar. The film, released in 2019 alongside Ajith-Nayanthara starrer “Viswasam,” garnered widespread acclaim for its gripping narrative and stellar performances.

Reflecting on his experience, Nawazuddin revealed that he learned from his time on the sets of “Petta” and applied those lessons to his recent Telugu debut, “Saindhav.” Taking on the role of Vikas Malik, a ruthless gangster, Nawazuddin ensured a deeper understanding of his character by personally dubbing his lines and comprehending their meaning. This proactive approach alleviated his previous feelings of guilt and contributed to a more fulfilling performance in “Saindhav.”

Directed by Sailesh Kolanu and produced by Venkat Boyanapalli, “Saindhav” boasts a star-studded cast including Venkatesh Daggubati, Shraddha Srinath, Ruhani Sharma, Andrea Jeremiah, Sara, and Jayaprakash. The action-packed thriller hailed as a ‘desi John Wick,’ premiered in theatres on January 13 and is now available for streaming on Prime Video India.

As Nawazuddin Siddiqui continues to captivate audiences with his versatile performances, fans eagerly anticipate his upcoming projects including “Adbhut,” “Noorani Chehra,” and “Sangeen,” poised to showcase his prowess as one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed actors.
