Jane Fonda praises SS Rajamouli’s RRR, fans correct her after she calls it a ‘Bollywood’ film

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s RRR continues to garner the interest of audiences and the big stars in the West as the Academy Awards 2023 buzz surges. Over a week ago, RRR witnessed a huge win at the 2023 Golden Globes in Los Angeles where the film’s track ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Best Song. SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan along with music composer MM Keeravani enjoyed the euphoric win. Following the win, they won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for RRR and ‘Naatu Naatu’ respectively at Critics Choice Awards 2023. Following several big stars, veteran American actress Jane Fonda has praised the film.

Jane Fonda shared a poster of RRR on Instagram on Friday and wrote, “On the complete opposite extreme of the last film I recommended, To Leslie, here’s another new one that took me by surprise: RRR, an Indian movie that’s short listed in the Best Foreign Film category. It’s a combination of Indiana Jones, a serious film about imperialism and Bollywood. I was transfixed. @rrrmovie.” Several fans took to the comments section to correct Fonda that the film is a Telugu-language film and not a Bollywood movie.

RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted for Best Original Song at Oscars 2023 whereas Chello Show has been shortlisted in the Best International Film category. The nominations will be announced on January 24 by Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams.

RRR is a fictional tale of two Indian revolutionaries, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The film explores the friendship between Ram and Bheem and their journey away from home during the 1920s. The film released in theatres in March 2022.
