Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo” on Netflix: Success Amidst Controversies

Streaming on Netflix after a triumphant box office run, “Leo,” helmed by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, marks the third instalment in a cinematic universe crafted by the filmmaker himself. With a staggering budget of Rs 300 crore, this Vijay-starrer emerged as a commercial triumph despite navigating through controversies.

Controversies Surrounding “Leo”

Initially, rumours circulated about the Tamil Nadu government denying permission for the movie’s audio launch event at Nehru Stadium due to alleged distribution rights arm-twisting by Red Giant Movies. However, the movie team refuted these claims.

A larger controversy ensued when actor Mansoor Ali Khan made disparaging remarks about Trisha Krishnan, drawing widespread backlash. Latest reports suggest a rift between Lokesh Kanagaraj and Seven Screen Studio’s Lalit Kumar over the director’s remuneration, alleging a delay in payment of Rs 5 crore after the film’s release.

Contrary to rumors, Lokesh Kanagaraj refuted claims of any dispute regarding his remuneration, asserting that Seven Screen Studio had paid his agreed-upon amount of Rs 22 crore before the film’s commencement. He urged fans to disregard baseless rumors circulating in this regard.

In an intriguing development, Lokesh launched his own production house named G Squad, unveiling its maiden project titled “Fight Club.”
