Raashii Khanna, who made her acting debut with Shoojit Sircar’s 2013 political action thriller, Madras Cafe, is completing 10 years in the film industry this year. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the actress opened up about her journey and how she battled prejudices at the beginning of her career.
Khanna considers herself lucky to have worked with very nice people from the very beginning, including Shoojit Sircar and John Abraham, who had a huge influence on her. She revealed that John Abraham had given her some important advice, which she took to heart. He had told her to learn to say no and mean it because otherwise, nobody would take her yes or no seriously. This advice has helped her to stay strong and true to herself in the industry.
Talking about her journey, Khanna said that she started in Bollywood and then moved to the South, where she was surrounded by very good people. She never faced any casting couch or any such issues there, making her journey smoother. However, in the beginning, she didn’t have many opinions and relied on what other people told her. But eventually, she started using her brain and applying it to her work, and people took her seriously when she made sense.
Raashii Khanna’s journey in the film industry is an inspiration for all aspiring actors. She has shown that by saying no and following your instincts, you can make a name for yourself without compromising your values.
