Ponniyin Selvan 2 grosses over ₹280 crore worldwide
Ponniyin Selvan 2 has collected Rs 280 globally, the film won't surpass the collection of first part Ponniyin Selvan 1.

Ponniyin Selvan directed by Mani Ratnam was released on April 28 after a lot of anticipation. The The first part in the franchise grossed over ₹500 crore at the box-office globally during its theatrical run. In Tamil Nadu, PS-1 went on to become the highest grossing Tamil film of all time.
Meanwhile the second part PS2 grossed ₹280 crore worldwide, the film won’t be able to beat the lifetime gross earning of PS 1, which was Rs 500 crore. The film’s star Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Prakash Raj among others.
As per trade analyst Trinath “PS 2 started off on a strong note at the box-office. However, the film did earn mixed response from audiences who felt part 1 was far better. As of Wednesday, the film has grossed over Rs. 280 crore globally and it is expected to add another ₹60 crore by the end of its theatrical run. This means, PS 2 won’t beat PS 1 in its lifetime theatrical collection,”.
Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam will soon commence work on his next yet-untitled Tamil project with Kamal Haasan. The duo is reuniting after three decades for this project.
