Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala is known for her versatile roles. Not only in Bollywood, she also had a good start in south industry with films like Bombay (1995), Indian (1996) and Mudhalvan (1999). She had also worked with legendary Rajnikanth in Baba which was much anticipated in 2002. Speaking about it, Manisha revealed how Baba’s failure finished her career in south. Even though, over the years the film became a cult classic.

During her interaction with the YouTube channel, O2 India. The actress said, “Baba was probably my last big Tamil film. It flopped so badly in those days. It was such a huge disaster. A lot of expectations were on the film and when it flopped, I thought my career in south films was gone completely and it did in a way.” Koirala revealed that she had multiple projects in the South before appearing in Baba.

Baba was re-released released in theatres last year on the occasion of Rajinikanth’s birthday. It did well at the box-office. To which Manisha responded, “After Baba flopped, I stopped getting offers. Strangely, the film turned out to be a hit when it was re-released which is unheard of. Rajini sir can never give a flop. He is such a kind man to work with.”

On the work front, Manisha was recently seen in Karthik Aaryan’s Shehzada, the Hindi remake of Allu Arjun’s Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikuntapuramlo (2022). She will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix web series Heeramandi later this year.
