Lal Salaam: Rajinikanth’s Cameo-Studded Sports Drama Gets New Release Date

After stepping back from the Pongal releases earlier, the much-anticipated film “Lal Salaam” starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth is now confirmed to hit the theatres on February 9th, 2024. Notably, this film features Superstar Rajinikanth in a special appearance, adding to the buzz surrounding its release.

The official announcement about the rescheduled release date was made via the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The makers expressed their excitement, proclaiming, “Namma THER THIRUVIZHA’ku Alappara kelappa neram vandhachu (The time has come for our festival)! LAL SALAAM hits the big screen on February 9th, 2024! Save the date!”

Originally slated for a Pongal release, the decision to delay came as the film secured distribution rights overseas, prompting a strategic move from the makers.

Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar, Thambi Ramaiah, and others in pivotal roles, “Lal Salaam” helmed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth is billed as a sports drama. Rajinikanth’s extended cameo adds an extra allure to the film, marking his collaboration with Aishwarya after her earlier directorial ventures.

Moreover, this film marks a significant return for Aishwarya Rajinikanth to the director’s chair post her previous films “3” (2011) and “Vai Raja Vai” (2015). In addition to Rajinikanth’s cameo, cricket legend Kapil Dev is set to make a special appearance, heightening the anticipation among audiences.

The musical composition by AR Rahman, along with the cinematography by Vishnu Rangasamy and editing by Pravin Bhaskar, promises a captivating visual and auditory experience for viewers. Notably, this marks Rajinikanth’s first on-screen appearance in his daughter’s film, differing from his collaboration with his younger daughter, Soundarya Rajinikanth, in the 2014 3D animated period film “Kochadaiiyaan: The Legend.”
