Adah Sharma’s “The Kerala Story” Defies Criticism and Political Attacks, Emerges as a Box Office Success

Adah Sharma‘s latest film “The Kerala Story” has proven to be a resilient and successful venture at the box office, despite facing criticism and political attacks. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film has not only sustained but surpassed expectations, becoming the fifth-highest opener after major releases like Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s “TJMM,” Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan’s “Bholaa,” and “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.”

“The Kerala Story” showcased an impressive performance on its fifth day, surpassing Monday’s test with flying colours. Early estimates indicate that the film collected approximately Rs 11.00 Crore on Tuesday, following Monday’s earnings of Rs 10.07 Crore. The movie has witnessed a nearly 50% jump in collections since its opening day, accumulating over Rs 50 Crore within just five days. Notably, the film has managed to maintain steady earnings on weekdays, matching the levels achieved on Friday and Saturday. The film initially garnered Rs 8.03 Crore on its first day, despite facing competition from MCU’s sci-fi adventure “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” which earned only Rs 7 Crore in India. “The Kerala Story” also surpassed the opening day collection of Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files,” which collected a mere Rs 3.55 Crore on its first Friday.

Here is the day-wise box office breakup of “The Kerala Story” after five days:

  • Friday: Rs 8.03 Crore
  • Saturday: Rs 11.22 Crore
  • Sunday: Rs 16 Crore
  • Monday: Rs 10.07 Crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 11.00 Crore (early estimate)
  • Total: Rs 56.72 Crore

Despite facing a ban in West Bengal imposed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, which resulted in Vipul Shah considering legal action, “The Kerala Story” seems to have benefited from the political controversy. Similar to the success stories of “The Kashmir Files,” “Pathaan,” and “Brahmastra,” the film has emerged as a game-changer.

Adah Sharma’s exceptional performance and the compelling storyline of “The Kerala Story” have struck a chord with the audience, propelling the film’s success at the box office. The film’s ability to overcome obstacles and sustain its momentum serves as a testament to its quality and appeal.
