Kriti Sanon Opens Up About Nepotism and Replacements in Bollywood

In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon candidly addressed the challenges she faced as an outsider with no film connections in the film industry. As she prepares to celebrate her 33rd birthday on July 27, the talented actress discussed nepotism and being replaced by star kids in movies.

Since her debut in the 2014 film “Heropanti,” Kriti Sanon has been a part of several successful projects, including “Dilwale,” “Raabta,” “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” “Luka Chuppi,” and “Housefull 4.” However, her most recent release, “Adipurush,” where she starred alongside Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan, faced criticism for various aspects, including dialogues and costumes, following its June release.

In a candid interview with Pinkvilla in 2020, Kriti shared her ambitions and her desire to work with renowned A-list directors. While she acknowledged receiving great opportunities, she also expressed her longing for certain roles that didn’t materialize. The actress acknowledged the existing disparity, mentioning that belonging to a film family would have given her a certain advantage, as directors would have already been acquainted with her.

Kriti Sanon also opened up about instances where she was replaced in films, hinting at the influence of star kids gaining more prominence. Although she admitted feeling disheartened by such occurrences, Kriti emphasized the importance of one’s work eventually speaking for itself. She recognized that she might not always be aware of the reasons behind the replacements and acknowledged that directors might genuinely prefer someone else for a specific role.

Looking ahead, Kriti Sanon has an exciting lineup of projects. She will be seen in “The Crew,” a film co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Tabu, backed by Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. Additionally, she has an untitled film alongside Shahid Kapoor, as well as “Ganapath,” featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Tiger Shroff, both slated for release this year and helmed by Vikas Bahl.

The talented actress is also reuniting with her “Dilwale” co-star Kajol for the first project under her new production banner, Blue Butterfly Films. Titled “Do Patti,” the film will be released on Netflix and produced in collaboration with writer Kanika Dhillon’s production house, Kathha Pictures.

Kriti Sanon’s journey in the industry stands as a testament to her perseverance and determination, showcasing that despite the challenges faced by outsiders, talent and hard work eventually find recognition and success.
