Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals why he chose the character of Vardharaja Mannaar for Salaar

Known for playing some of the best roles in Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in a unique avatar in the Prashanth Neel film Salaar. The KGF director will be directing the Baahubali actor and it will also feature the Malayalam actor-filmmaker. We got a glimpse of his look from this Shruti Haasan starrer on his birthday, a few days ago. Now, in a recent interview, the Mollywood actor revealed why he decided to choose the film and his character Vardharaja Mannar.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Prithviraj Sukumaran opened up about the reason behind him choosing Salaar. “There are multiple reasons why Salaar would be a no-brainer for anybody to say yes to – it’s a Prashanth Neel film, a Hombale Films production and it is Prabhas’ film. It is Prabhas’ return to mainstream mass commercial cinema after a while. His films post Saaho have been slightly away from the mass action genre,” said the star.

Although he did not divulge details about the film, he did reveal about how the story revolves around his and Prabhas’ character. “The crux of the story is very much between Prabhas’ character and mine. I deem it a privilege that somebody like Prashanth Neel post KGF Chapter 2 thought it was worth waiting for me to be able to join the film. And I’m glad I made that decision to finally say yes to it, because having shot for a few days, I think it might just be one of those epic cinematic experiences. So, I’m really looking forward to Salaar as much as an actor, as I’m as a film lover,” he added.

Talking about the film, it features Shruti Haasan in the lead role and she will be sharing screen space with the Baahubali star for the first time. It also stars popular Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu and is slated to release on September 28, 2023.
