Post success of Godfather, Chiranjeevi is gearing up for the much talked about Waltair Veerayya. He recently received a big honor at IFFI in Goa. Adding to the list of his accolades and achievements over the years, the Telugu superstar was bestowed with the Indian Film Personality of the Year 2022 award at the 53 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that was held in Goa. On November 20, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement amidst the presence of Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
The opening ceremony of IFFI was held on November 20 and many other celebrities like Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpayee, writer V Vijayendra Prasad were presented with accolades for their achievements. Meanwhile, I&B Minister Anurag Thakur announced about the honour for the megastar on Twitter. In response to the same, Chiranjeevi took to the platform to express his gratitude towards being given this award saying, “Greatly Delighted and Humbled at this honour, Sri @ianuragthakur! My deep gratitude to Govt of India @MIB_India @IFFIGoa @Anurag_Office and all my loving fans only because of whom i am here today!”
Chiranjeevi was last seen in Godfather which also featured Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in a special role in the film. The film also had Nayanthara, Satya Dev, among others and is the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer. The megastar is currently gearing up for Waltair Veerayya, which is in the news for bringing him together with Ravi Teja where the latter plays the role of a cop whereas the megastar will be seen in a grey role of a smuggler. With Shruti Haasan in the lead, the film will be directed by K.S. Ravindra aka Bobby and is slated to release during Makar Sankranti, on January 13.
